Diary Cards

What is a Diary Card?

The Diary Card in this app is a digital version of the standard Card you may already be familiar with from DBT sessions. In Guilford Digital for DBT, your clinician can customize your Card with emotions, behavioral urges, and DBT Skills tailored to your needs. They can then "assign" you the customized Card to fill out at least once a day and discuss in your therapy session.

If a Diary Card is assigned to me, do I have to fill it out?

No, you do not have to fill out your assigned Diary Card and if you're new to DBT, you might not have a lot to share yet! As you learn more DBT Skills and continue your therapeutic journey, the Diary Cards will be easier to complete.

Additionally, the more information you provide, the easier it will be to see the patterns and trends of your emotions, behaviors, and Skills practice in the Guilford Digital for DBT visual and graphical analytics section.

Where can I view my completed Diary Cards?

Using the Diary Card tab in the left-hand navigation menu, click the "History" tab toward the center of the page. From there, you'll be able to access your completed Diary Cards, labeled by the week you recorded them, and view a specific week's records by clicking the "Open Diary Card" button.

Who can view my Diary Cards?

Your Diary Cards can only be viewed by you and your primary clinician.

My Skills

Where can I see what Skills I have been assigned?

Go to the My Skills tab in the left-hand navigation menu. You can view your Individual Skills assigned by your clinician, and your Group Skills assigned by your group leader(s).

Skills Library

What's an "Interactive Skill"?

Interactive Skills are those in the DBT Skills Library that contain Instructional Videos, Downloadable Handouts, Fillable Worksheets, and the brand-new Digitized Worksheets: in-app versions of the Linehan worksheets, especially convenient for on-the-go practice.

How is the Skills Library organized?

The DBT Skills Library is organized by the 4 skill modules: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Within each module, the Interactive Skills are listed first, with the rest of the skills following in alphabetical order. You can also filter within each module as needed for easier searching.

How many times can I practice each Skill?

Each Skill can be practiced as many times as desired! The Handouts and Fillable Worksheets can be re-downloaded and the in-app Digitized Worksheets can be restarted as many times as necessary.
